This is at 75% of the original size I worked at! Sorry if its still kinda large ^^;

Long awaited 1st place prize for *Junryou-na-Kokoro who won the contest I held a while back. Her prize was tucked in my pile of things to do in between commissions and I kept putting it off because I wanted to make it just as awesome as her entry.

I highly enjoy when artists give me free reign on where to go with their owed art because I can put so much more in there. I needed to practice foliage environments especially trees so I went with her character Pureheart (female white wolf) visiting Seiyaku (Male feline/canine critter) who is lounging in the confines of a very big tree or canopy x3

Hope it was worth your time junryou-na-kokoro! Your characters are a real pleasure to draw, love the designs.

Background was painted in paint tool sai and the characters in opencanvas 3.
Critique welcomed... I need to get better at this kind of environment! I can even get you started.. first thing I spot is the extreme foreground being rather empty. GO! 8D

gorgeous. absolutely astounding. i reallyreally love this so much <3 a very beautiful and inspirational piece. but of course you requested critique so i'll give that.

with your note of an emptry foreground, you could make some of these branches coming toward the viewer and add more leaves/foliage around the border, maybe covering a bit of the characters. i know an easy trick to make a scene more realistic is to cover some of the characters ;3

the background is gorgeous. points for handdrawing leaves xD though, and this is more of a personal thing, try and go nuts with dark shadows on the branches to five the image a bit more depth when it comes to the tree c:

finally, the characters bother me a little bit. the way you drew them is simply gorgeous no doubt with that. however, their eyes don't quite meet, it looks like the winged one is looking right behind the lioncharacter and he looking above the winged one--both based on where his pupils are pointed and the position of his head. also with the lion, his pose seems just the slightest bit awkward. it looks like he'd need an awful lot of upperbody strength to lift his head while casually letting his arms rest on the tree. also, he seems ever so slightly tilted based on that little bump he's laying on xD i'd also like to see some perspective in that sunbeam hitting his paw ;D

moving onto the winged character's position. a wolf would seem a bit too bulky to so easily stand on that thin branch, and the positions of his [i use 'he' to describe things, habit lol] paws hardly make it seem like he's walking on a branch--that and his other paw disappears behind the branch D:

alright i think that is all i see ^^ astounding job, hon, it's just fantastic <3
